And the Snubby Goes To...

GRAMMYs 2024: The Snubbery of It All

SnubbyPod Season 2 Episode 2

On the one year snubbiversary of the very seedling of the idea for this podcast, Ebony and Shavey are here to discuss the awards show that started it all: The GRAMMYs. While Beyoncé was not nominated for AOTY this go-round, the reverberations of her previous losses were still front and center. Jay-Z spoke up and showed out. SZA won a few but not that elusive AOTY that has not gone to a Black woman since 1999, despite her chart-topping, genre-bending, record-breaking album SOS being favored to win. Instead, Album of the Year was awarded to Taylor Swift for Midnights, who now has the singular record of holding the most AOTY GRAMMYs in history, as well as, shamefully, more than all Black women artists combined. Whew. Let's get into it (and hear Shavey successfully predict Bey's country era in a pod that was recorded prior to her surprise double single-release during the Super Bowl)!
